Data Access & Translation

Designers, engineers and manufacturers deploy a wide range of different systems during product development, often using different 3D data formats. Application developers need to ensure that users can exchange and re-use data from their applications throughout the product lifecycle and across the supply chain.

Parasolid customers enjoy interoperability with both Parasolid-based and non-Parasolid-based applications. This is due to the widespread adoption of Parasolid as a result of Siemens PLM Software's open business model, together with a wide range of solutions for data import, export and optimization.

Parasolid Bodyshop

Parasolid Bodyshop is a toolkit that repairs, optimizes and validates CAD data imported into Parasolid for downstream modeling operations.

  • ·Import: Validate/clean incoming B-rep topology, heal sheets and solids, validate/clean/heal/sew trimmed surface data
  • ·Cleaning: Improve topology - invalid sense, missing topology, bad loop and region structure. Improve geometry - zero length curves, short edges, gaps, sliver faces, etc.
  • ·Optimization: Simplify geometry, improve tolerant edges, remove small entities
  • ·Fidelity: Track modifications, measure closeness of cleaned geometry to original shape
  • ·Export: Convert geometry to common or standard forms

Visualization

Photorealistic rendering like the image here leaves little to the imagination regarding the appearance of a finished product. A different idealization might be more appropriate for collaborating engineers and designers. Be it photorealistic rendering or visualization with an engineering focus that requires 3d annotation, sectioning, and measure over the web, Siemens has the toolkit to meet your needs.
